As a young
boy, EMILIO built classic
model cars. Growing up in
a single parent home his mother,
AIDA, used model cars as a
way of keeping him off the
streets. One day while searching
for employment as a mechanic,
Emilio meets QUINCY “QUICK”
LYLES, a classic car customizer,
and EVELYN, a sexy, fellow
car enthusiast. When ELBOW
(the reigning King of Crenshaw)
breaks his car while showing
off his hydraulics, Emilio
steps up to the challenge
and repairs the car on the
spot. Impressed, Quick immediately
hires Emilio as a mechanic
at his shop. They become friends
and Emilio learns the ropes
of the Crenshaw culture.

Obviously
taken with one another,
Emilio and Evelyn exchange
phone numbers and they
begin to date. Emilio
is impressed with Evelyn’s
status as the president
of Crenshaw’s only
women’s low-rider
car club called Ladies
First. While pursuing
his relationship with
Evelyn, Emilio also pursues
a relationship with his
estranged father, DANIEL,
who is a wealthy and influential
corporate attorney. He
then meets “T”,
Quick’s childhood
buddy and Evelyn’s
ex-boyfriend, who feels
threatened by these newly
developed relationships.

Quick teaches
Emilio to hop a lowrider and
compete on Crenshaw Blvd.
Emilio quickly proves that
he’s a natural and aspires
to beat the reigning “King
of Crenshaw,” Elbow.
Quick helps Emilio put hydraulics
on his own car so he can compete.
Emilio challenges T for his
pink slip and embarrasses
him on the “Shaw,”
fueling T’s animosity.
One night, T and his boys
follow Emilio and jump him
to teach him who’s boss.
Emilio recovers and continues
to compete on Crenshaw. During
this period, he also becomes
an increasing support system
to Evelyn, who’s having
a rough time dealing with
her mother’s alcohol
habit.
Due to T’s envy of Emilio
and Quick’s relationship,
he and his boy, P-NUT, steal
a car and park it in Quick’s
yard unbeknownst to him. Because
the car is traceable through
LoJack, the police find the
car in Quick’s possession
and arrest him. This false
infraction constitutes Quick’s
third strike and he is taken
away with the possibility
of facing life in prison for
a crime he didn’t commit.
Emilio has no choice but to
implore the help of his father,
Daniel, to get Quick off.
In the process , Emilio discovers
that justice comes with a
price, and he must fight to
prove to his father that Quick
is a man worth defending.
Daniel reluctantly decides
to investigate the case and
discovers that Quick is a
good citizen caught in an
unfortunate situation and
decides to pull some strings.
With Daniel and Emilio’s
help, Quick gets probation
on his 3rd strike and is able
to return to his family. Upon
Quick’s release, Emilio
challenges Elbow for the title
of the hottest car on Crenshaw
at the “Super Show Arena
Hop-Off.”
Evelyn finally confronts her
mother, putting an end to
her alcohol problem. T is
double-crossed and killed
by his boy, P-Nut, for hanging
him out to dry with the DEA.
Daniel Frumes learns to rethink
some of his prejudice and
as a result develops a tighter
bond with his son Emilio.
Emilio faces Elbow at the
Super Show Arena Hop-Off and
defeats him to become the
new King of Crenshaw!
