SYNOPSIS

A daring motorbike-riding gang of female thieves, led by an outlaw named FORTUNE, ambushes an armored truck carrying a strongbox with a unique cargo – a cache of human souls acquired by the Devil. Fortune’s task is to return the souls of people who had been duped by the Devil into a crooked deal. Five towns lie on their route: Redemption, Money, Hell’s Kitchen, Golgotha, and Vanitas. Each town is like one of the rings of Hell, its character determined by one of the seven deadly sins that has given the town its reputation. In each town, there are innocents who don’t deserve the fires of the inferno. Now it’s up to Fortune and her crew to find them and restore their lost souls before the Devil’s posse harvests them for the hellbound train that is set to depart in the darkest hour of the eclipse on Judgement Day.

KANE is a unique combination of a Western outlaw and an Eastern samurai. A thief, a bounty hunter, and the fastest gun in the Territories, he has a talent for death and a gift for being the last man standing. The one thing that matters most to him in this world is his son, BEN, who wants to emulate his father in every way. Though his instinct tells him otherwise, Kane lets Ben talk him into perpetrating a train robbery with a couple of suspicious strangers, ABRAXAS and PHELLAN. Kane and Ben fleece a saloon car full of rich poker players only to be shot in the back during the getaway by Abraxas and Phellan. Kane survives the shooting, then makes a daring escape from the gallows by appealing to the executioner’s greed.

The Devil, who goes by VAN ZANT in our story, visits Kane as he digs his son’s grave and makes him an offer he can’t refuse. Van Zant will help Kane get his vengeance against Abraxas and Phellan provided Kane does a job for Van Zant at some point in the future.

Kane pursues Abraxas and Phellan to Redemption where they’d gone boozing and whoring. In the course of getting his vengeance, he manages to save a life of one of the girls from the brothel. He gets unexpected help from Fortune in closing the book on Abraxas and Phellan, only to discover that Van Zant wants her brought to justice for stealing the strongbox of souls. Kane sets off in pursuit of Fortune over the treacherous landscape, rife with snakes, zombies, lepers and vampires, little realizing that he is hunting a woman who holds a key to his salvation. Keeping the heat on Kane is an evergrowing posse, lead by a relentless MARSHAL and comprised of vicious ghouls risen from the dead.

Staying a step ahead of Kane and the posse, Fortune’s gang saves lives in the towns of vanity, greed, and anger. But these victories are paid for dearly as she loses members of her gang along the way as well as the good people who help her in her cause. Kane comes across a mysterious character named APOSTLE as he tries to cross the River Styx into the far reaches of Purgatory. Apostle is a former monk who, in this land without faith, has become a transporter – a man who knows the few escape routes from hell and can help an innocent soul escape the vicious cycle that is life in this infernal world.

The violence and destruction Kane encounters in the external world mirrors the turmoil in his own heart as Apostle makes him confront painful memories and recover his lost humanity. He takes Kane into a subterranean labyrynth beneath a ruined monastery where, with the help of medicine made from a sacred herb, Kane relives the memories of his wife who died in childbirth and his father, a samurai turned laborer who sold his soul so that his son would have a better life.

Kane now realizes that the Devil has been playing him all along and declares war against Van Zant to help Fortune complete her mission. He rescues her from the posse and helps her save a child’s life in the town of anger, only to fall into a trap set by the undead manifestations of Phellan and Abraxas.

Van Zant wants Kane for his own because there is no greater warrior than Kane. He offers Kane to be his lawman…provided Kane kills Fortune. Van Zant works hard to convince Kane that he had been born to carry out hell’s work. Apostle intervenes to save Fortune and Kane. Taking refuge in a nearby ghost town, Apostle helps Kane regain his lost soul.

Fortune, Apostle and Kane stage a daring train robbery just as the Devil’s train is about to vanish into hell and free a trainload of children. Van Zant kills his old enemy the Apostle while Fortune and Kane manage to getaway.

The Devil summons his legions for a final showdown with Fortune and Kane in the ghost town. Things look bleak for the duo until the people they’d liberated come to their aid and helps to turn the tide of battle.

The eclipse is over. For now, at least the Devil has been defeated as Fortune and Kane set off in search of a happier place. Kane recovers his father’s heritage and sets his father’s soul free at last, putting an end to his age-long suffering at the hands of the Devil.
